The Effects of Global Warming
So what are the effects of global warming? Do you even care? Some people are even suggesting that global warming could be a positive thing,
that it could save many millions of lives.
Do you agree with this point of view? One area of the world that may well be affected in a negative way is the Maldives, according to a recent
report.
Ever increasing sea levels, currently suggesting to be rising at around one centimetre per year is putting this region in serious future
danger. 1cm may seem fairly minimal however when you consider the fact the Maldives is only 2.3m about sea level at its highest point and the
additional fact that majority of the island is a considerable amount lower than this, that the potential of submersion becomes a very real
possibility.
This could explain why the Maldives were the first country to sign up to the Kyoto agreement.
The people of the Maldives and other countries which are in a similar position are hoping for a present day miracle, are you willing to help
them?

continuing to live, grow, expand and build airports in the way that are, what is the point in trying to put in place a positive plan.
I personally think that it is up to each and every one of us to do our bit; two wrongs do not make a right and all that. If you are able to
recycle, recycle. If you can go green in any way, go green.
At each stage we should be pressing our own governments to act on this policy and attempt to find ways of how we can improve the way we live
and travel.
Many of us enjoy the island paradise that is the Maldives, let us work together to help its people in sustaining in its long term future.
For the people that debate that global warming may in fact save many people’s lives, well I for one have not as yet seen any such evidence.
I agree that a lot more needs to be done to educate people from around the world on the overall affects of global warming and about what we
can do to prevent global warming; I think a subject like this should replace cooking at school – which is pointless and dated.
