Of course, there are still many in the population that don’t know what sustainable products even are… nonetheless have any interest in them.

Well, if you are one of these people keep reading.  Through this article you will get a basic introduction to what sustainable products are, why you should use them and what you can truly expect out of them.

First, you should know what sustainable products are.  It’s simple.  Sustainable products are created in a manner that is eco-friendly.

They utilize sustainable materials and sustainable production methods.  In terms of sustainable materials, these types of products use things that are organic, chemical-free or recycled.

Sometimes the sustainable materials will contain all of these characteristics.  Either way, it doesn’t matter.  As long as the sustainable materials are there, that’s all you need to care about.

In terms of production methods, sustainable products are created in a manner that doesn’t release extra pollution into the air.

Renewable energy is used along with sustainable IT.  If a sustainable product is grown, farmers will make sure only organic pesticides are used.

They may also find ways to encourage the health of surrounding wildlife.  An example can be seen through sustainable coffee, a product that is grown under a canopy of trees.  These trees attract birds, which is why sustainable coffees are often coined “bird-friendly.”

Now, let’s discuss why you should use sustainable products… if you haven’t already discovered the answer.  Basically, they help to ensure that the environment will remain function not only for your generation but also for future generations that come forth through you.

They keep the air clean and healthy and they help balance wildlife.  In some cases sustainable products can also put more money in your wallet, since they may keep you from having to use non-sustainable energy.

With that being said, what can you expect when you use sustainable products?  Honestly, this will depend on what products you are using.

Some of them work well, but have a different look to them, at least in comparison to their non-sustainable counterparts.

An example can be seen through certain brands of recycled notebook paper.  The sustainable materials used to create it can be seen in the paper itself, as it has a ‘pulpy’ look to it.

This is in contrast to non-sustainable paper, which is clear.  But everything else about the paper works pretty normally.

So, it’s just a matter of getting used to its unique appearance.
Then there are sustainable products that look, feel and work just like their non-sustainable counterparts.

Consider sustainable furniture.  Like recycled notebook paper, it consists of sustainable materials.  But, unlike some brands of recycled notebook paper, you can’t see materials because it is blended in well with the furniture.

All in all, sustainable products are definitely worth your while.  But, like anything else,  you may have to do some research and experimentation to discover the brands and products that work best for you.

Break Through: "From the Death of Environmentalism to the Politics of Possibility"

Environmental insiders Michael Shellenberger and Ted Nordhaus argue that the environmental movement has not evolved with the times and is out of touch with modern American values.

They call for a new aspirational politics that will be capable of tackling our most pressing challenges.

The Politically Incorrect Guide to Global Warming (and Environmentalism)

The big media have spoken on the question of global warming, and the debate is officially over.

"Be afraid, be very afraid," warns Time magazine.

But have Al Gore and his environmentalist allies really proven their case?

The Politically Incorrect Guide to Global Warming (and Environmentalism) provides a provocative, entertaining, and well documented expos of some of the most shamelessly politicized pseudoscience we are likely to see in our relatively cool lifetimes.
